Ampullaria saxea Reeve, 1856d View in CoL : pl. 22, fig. 108. Type material — syntypes: NHMUK 20020694 (3 spms.) [see also Prashad 1925: 87]. Type locality —[no locality given]. Distribution —“hill streams around Khandalla and Igatpuri in the Western Ghats, Bombay Presidency” ( Prashad 1925: 88).

Remarks. Synonym or variety of aperta Philippi , teste Nevill (1877: 6) and Nevill (1885: 4), respectively. Valid species, teste G.B. Sowerby III (1910: 61), in Pila , teste Preston (1915: 100) and Subba Rao (1989: 61), followed here, and in Turbinicola , teste Prashad (1925: 87) and Berthold (1991: 22); Turbinicola synonymized with Pila by Berthold (1991: 202), also followed here.
