Meladomus nitidissimus Bourguignat, 1889: 171 View in CoL –172. Type material — syntypes: MNHG-INVE-11675 (1 spm.), MHNG-INVE-11676 (1 spm.). Type locality —“rive gauche du Kyngani, près de Bagamoyo, et rivières de la haute vallée du Vouami, aux environs de Kondoa (Ousaghara), ainsi que dans la plaine marécageuse de l’Ouha, sur la rive du Roussoughi” [left bank of the Kingani (= Ruvu) River, near Bagamoyo, and rivers of the upper valley of the Wami, in the environs of Kondoa (Usagara), as well as in the marshy plain of the Ouha (Uha) on the bank of the Roussoughi (Russugi); Tanzania]. Distribution —no additional information.
Remarks. An immature purpurea Jonas , teste Martens (1897a: 164), or a variety of purpurea Jonas , teste Kobelt (1909: 79). Synonym of olivacea G.B. Sowerby I , teste G.B. Sowerby III (1916: 68). Valid species, teste Pilsbry & Bequaert (1927: 194), followed here.
