Bradinothrips musae (Hood) View in CoL

( Figs 53 View FIGURES 52–64 , 121 View FIGURES 121–138 )

This species is considered a pest of bananas, and by feeding on the fruit ( Fig. 129 View FIGURES 121–138 ) it causes fruit loss and reduced marketability. In countries such as Argentina, where B. musae is presumably absent, there are restrictions to Brazilian shipments of banana if this species is detected. It has been recorded in the States of Piauí , São Paulo and Santa Catarina and recently collected in Rio Branco, Acre State, by the authors (25.vii.2019) .
