Dipoena niteroi Levi, 1963: 166 , figs. 181–182 (Male holotype from Niteroi , Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, deposited in the Muséum National d’Histoire Naturelle, Paris, not examined); Platnick, 2013.

Diagnosis. The female of Dipoena niteroi resembles that of Dipoena obscura Keyserling, 1891 (see Levi, 1963: 164, figs. 169–170) in the presence of two pairs of rounded spermathecae with the first pair more developed, median copulatory opening and ducts are sclerotized ( Figs. 42, 43 View FIGURES 41 – 43 ), differs from it in the first pair of spermathecae more separated from each other ( Figs. 43 View FIGURES 41 – 43 ).

Description. Female (MCN 42276): Total length 1.49. Carapace length 0.58, width 0.50. Clypeus height 0.39. Sternum length 0.35, width 0.33. Abdomen length 1.07, width 1.17, height 0.94. Leg formula IV/II/III/I; segment length (I/II/III/IV): femora 0.52/0.50/0.48/0.58; patellae + tibiae 0.46/0.50/0.46/0.56; metatarsi + tarsi 0.46/0.52/ 0.52/0.58; total 1.44/1.52/1.46/1.72. Eye diameter and interdistance: AME 0.07, ALE 0.06, PME 0.06 and PLE 0.05; AME–AME 0.06, AME–ALE 0.04, PME–PME 0.04, PME–PLE 0.04. Eyes ( Figs. 41 View FIGURES 41 – 43 ) margined with black. Macrosetae between eyes. Carapace ( Figs. 41 View FIGURES 41 – 43 ) yellow, darkened in median portion and between eyes. Clypeus with a broad dark brown band between eyes and cheliceral margin. Labium and endite darkened. Sternum yellow. Coxae yellow. Femora yellow with brown rings, other articles yellow covered with darkened dots. Abdomen subcircular ( Figs. 41 View FIGURES 41 – 43 ) with white pigment on dorsum, some black anterior; venter brown, darkened between spinnerets. Spinnerets covered with brown spots. Palp yellow, except tarsi dark brown.

Male. Described by Levi (1963: 166; figs. 181–182).

Variation. Females (n=5). Total length 1.32–1.80; carapace length 0.48–0.63; femur I 0.48–0.52. Carapace colour pattern from pale yellow to yellow; amount of white pigment on the abdomen varies.

Remarks. Males and females were collected together in various localities in Brazil.
