Etymology: Latin viridis , green + Greek: κέφᾰλος, head. The name is a noun in apposition.

Notes: Hamilton (1980) noted that M. viridiceps Evans is preoccupided by Macropsis viridiceps Wagner since Wagner’s name was published in April 1941 and Evans’ in July 1941. However, he did not propose a replacement name.

Etymology: The new proposed name is derived from the original genus name Nanopsis Freytag, 1974, from Greek νάννος, dwarf + ὄψις, appearance with Greek prefix: ψευδο- (false). The gender is feminine.
