Type material. Holotype: CHINA: Zhejiang Prov.: ɗ, Suichang County, Jiulongshan, 500–700 m, 31.VII.2006, LI Jin-Wen & SHEN Shan-Jia leg. Paratypes: CHINA: Zhejiang Prov.: 6ɗɗ, 10ΨΨ, same data as holotype.

Description. Body length: 5.1–6.4 mm; forebody length: 3.1–3.7 mm.

Body ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 12 ) elongate, brown, with labrum, coxae and two basal antennal segments reddish yellow; the remaining antennal segments, maxillary palpi and legs except for coxae yellow.

Head suborbicular, slightly longer than broad (length/width = 1.06); postocular portion twice as long as eye length; on disk intervals between punctures flat, not raised like carinae. Antennae slender, extending to basal 1/3 of pronotum; relative length of each segment from 1 to 11: 48.0: 13.5: 30.5: 23.5: 22.5: 22.0: 21.0: 20.0: 17.0: 16.0: 21.0; relative width of each segment from 1 to 11: 11.0: 7.5: 6.0: 6.0: 6.0: 6.0: 6.0: 6.0: 6.0:7.0: 7.0.

Pronotum convex and oval, longer than wide (length/width = 1.22), narrower (pronotum/head = 0.85) and shorter (pronotum/head = 0.98) than head; prosternum with strong longitudinal median carina not reaching its anterior margin. Elytra slightly shorter than wide (length/width = 0.99), distinctly shorter (elytra/pronotum = 0.83) and slightly wider (elytra/pronotum = 1.03) than pronotum.

Abdomen without microsculpture.

Male. Seventh sternite ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) distinctly prominent in the middle of posterior margin; 8th sternite ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) deeply and triangularly excised in the middle of posterior margin. Aedeagus ( Figs. 15–17 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) distinctly sclerotized; apex of median lobe in dorsal view tri-lobed: median process narrow and subulate, two lateral processes at apex curved basally; dorso-lateral apophyses in dorsal view strongly curved inward at middle, in lateral view strongly curved ventrad in apical 1/3 and distinctly widened at apex, extending distinctly beyond apex of median lobe.

Female. Seventh and 8th sternites simple.

Remarks. The present new species is similar in appearance and structure of aedeagus to N. brunneus Hu, 2006 from Jiangxi Province, but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters: the median carina of the prosternum not reaching its anterior margin (in N. brunneus the carina extends to the anterior margin); the prominence of male 7th sternite ( Fig. 13 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) in the middle of the posterior margin is shorter and more obtuse; the emargination of the male 8th sternite ( Fig. 14 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) is wider; the two lateral processes of median lobe of the aedeagus ( Fig. 15 View FIGURES 13 – 17 ) lack small triangular protuberance near their middle; the apical part of the dorso-lateral apophyses is much wider in ventral view.

Distribution. China (Zhejiang Prov.).

Etymology. The species name is a combination of the prefix " para- " and the adjective " brunneus ", referring to similarity of the new species to N. brunneus .
