Trophon condei Houart, 2003: 102 View in CoL , figs 1–2, 23, 31.

R/V AGOR Vidal Gormáz, off Concepción, Chile, (Sta. AGT 1, 11/30/2003), 36°21.46’S, 73°44.08’W, 930m, 2lv (33.76mm siphonal canal broken and 41.85mm) (MNHNCL 201646); R/V AGOR Vidal Gormáz, (Sta. AGT 5 10/10/2004), 36°21.65’S, 73°44.42’W, 900–904m, 3 lv, 1 dd (45.94mm and 41.6mm siphonal canal broken, 37.72mm subadult (JS); 40.17mm subadult (RH); R/V AGOR Vidal Gormáz, off Concepción (Sta. AGT 13, 10/10/2004), 36º21.91’S, 73º43.21’W, 728843m, 3dd (42.2 mm badly worn, siphonal canal broken, 53.3mm, 56.1mm) (JS).
Remarks
The shell morphology of all the specimens examined is similar to the holotype ( Fig. 1 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 4 ) except the size. The holotype is a large specimen with approximately 7 teleoconch whorls. The first teleoconch whorls of all the specimens are damaged so that the protoconch morphology and the exact number of teleoconch whorls remain unknown. Adult specimens have 11–14 axials on the last whorl ( Figs 2–4 View FIGURES 1 – 14. 1 – 4 ). The spiral cord morphology is also similar, except the infrasutural primary cord (IP), distinguishable from the antepenultimate whorl in a few specimens, but not present in the holotype.
The radula ( Fig. 33 View FIGURES 27 – 35. 27 – 29 ) is strikingly similar to that of northern Boreotrophon species ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 36 – 37. 36 ). It is rachiglossate with a rachidian tooth bearing a long, broad, central cusp, a narrow, short, lateral denticle and a long, broad, lateral cusp. The lateral denticles are separated from the lateral cusps. Lateral teeth are sickleshaped, and are moderately broad. It is unlike typical Trophon species (e.g., T. geversianus ), which has the lateral denticle always attached to the interior margin of the lateral cusp, usually to the upper third, and lateral cusps usually with short denticles on the external edge ( Pastorino 2005).
The operculum is elliptical with a terminal nucleus.
