Colopodacus parallelus sp. nov. ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 )
Female: Body fusiform, 142 long, shield 42 long, 58 wide, shield lobe present; shield design with median line absent, admedian lines from basal to basal 4/5, parallel, with transverse line at apical 1/6, extending along anterior margin, submedian line absent; scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, scapular seta (sc) 5 long, directed to centrad and upwards, Dt-Dt 13 apart. Legs: tibiae fused with tarsi; coxal area smooth; 1st coxal seta (1b) 4 long, Ct1-Ct1 12 apart, 2nd coxal seta (1a) 7 long, Ct2-Ct2 10 apart, 3rd coxal seta (2a) 10 long, Ct3-Ct3 23 apart, Ct1\Ct2 12, Ct1-Ct2 5, Ct2\Ct3 17, Ct2-Ct3 8; solenidion ending as knob; empodium simple, 4 rayed.
Opisthosoma: dorsum with three weak ridges, dorsal annuli with 33 rings, 1st 3 dorsal annuli 14 long; ventral annuli with 56 microtuberculate rings; lateral seta (c2) 9 long, Lt-Lt 41 apart, Lt\Vt1 37, Lt-Vt1 20; 1st ventral seta (d) 29 long, Vt1-Vt1 23 apart, Vt1\Vt2 34, Vt1-Vt2 31; 2nd ventral seta (e) 6 long, Vt2-Vt2 12 apart, Vt2\Vt3 38, Vt2-Vt3 36; 3rd ventral seta (f) 15 long, Vt3-Vt3 15 apart; accessory seta (h1) absent.
Epigynium: 21 wide, 12 long, with about 10 longitudinal ridges, genital seta (3a) 6 long, Gt-Gt 12 apart.
Male: body 131 long, shield 36 long, 48 wide, scapular seta (sc) 4 long; genital 15 wide, 4 long, genital seta (3a) 5 long, Gt-Gt 9 apart..
Type data: Holotype Ψ, Taipei: Yangmingshan (675m; N25°10´E25°10´), 18-Aug.-1999, Huang & Wang; ex Hydrangea angustipetala Hayata (Saxifragaceae) . (deposited at NMNS). Paratypes, 4Ψ, 2ɗ data same as for holotype.
Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.
Remarks: This new species is close to C. millettiae Huang et al., 1996 by they shield design with admedian line subparallel. This new species differs from C. millettiae by the following characters: shield design with a transverse line at apical 1/6, extending along anterior margin, epigynium with longitudinal ridges, and the 4-rayed empodium. There are 8 out of 16 species of Colopodacus occur in Taiwan. Species of this genus mostly occur in subtropical and tropical areas of northern hemisphere, but only one species record in southern hemisphere.
Etymology: This new name means “parallel” in reference to the parallel admedian lines.
