Generic diagnosis (modified after Fauchald, 1977; Green, 2002; Magalhães and Blake, 2017). Prostomium conical or rounded. Thorax with an achaetous peristomium and 13–17 chaetigers. First chaetiger uniramous. Chaetigers 1–12 with only capillaries; chaetigers 13–17 may have capillaries or be transitional with notopodial capillaries and neuropodial hooks. Abdominal chaetigers with hooded hooks only. Branchiae present or absent, when present, branched, notopodial. Lateral organs present.
