Type locality. WC, Cape Peninsula, Rifle Range near Simonstown, under stones (waterfall).

Distribution. This subspecies occurs only in the south-eastern part of peninsula. Records: Simonstown, waterfall above little dam in Baviaan’s Kloof. Head of Baviaan’s Kloof. Near Rifle Range, Klaver Vallei, among roots of Osmitopsis and Juncus . Near the dam behind Molteno's House. Between Miller's Point and Simonstown.

Remarks. Syntypes ZMH V-6382, 6383; ZMB Verm. 4055. Other material BMNH 1938.7.1.2243–2259, recorded as Ch. montanus or Ch. purcelli montanus .
