Specimens examined: São Carlos: P. guajava , X2001 (1). Pirassununga: P. guineense , IV2001 (1). Luiz Antônio: P.guajava , V2000 (5), I2001 (1), IV2001 (1), VII2001 (1).
Associated phytophagous mites: Abacarus sp. and O. psidii on P. guajava .
Previous records: Brazil — Bahia, Ceará, Mato Grosso ( Ferla & Moraes, 2002), Minas Gerais, Pernambuco, São Paulo; Canada; Colombia; Costa Rica; Cuba; El Salvador; Galapagos; Honduras; Jamaica; Mexico; Puerto Rico; USA and Venezuela.
Remarks: Most of the measurements of the 4 adult females collected are, at least, 15% longer than those given in the original description, and slightly shorter than the measurements given by Moraes & Mesa (1988) for specimens from Colombia. The average measurements followed by the respective ranges (in parentheses) are: dorsal shield length 278 (270–288), width 141 (138–145), j1 19 (18–20), j3 41 (38–48), j4 29 (28–33), j5 37 (35–40), j6 45 (40–53), J2 47 (43–53), J5 8, z2 40 (38–45), z3 38 (35–43), z4 42 (38–50), z5 37 (35–43), Z4 48 (43–53), Z5 44 (43–48), s4 46 (43–53), s6 53 (48–58), S2 53 (48– 58), S5 44 (43–48), r3 33 (30–35), St1–St3 59 (58–60), St2–St2 51 (50–53), St5–St5 46 (43–50), length of ventrianal shield 95 (90–103), width at ZV2 level 54 (50–58), width at anus level 58 (58–60), length of calyx of spermatheca 31 (30–35).
The measurements of a single male are: dorsal shield length 205, width 118, j1 15, j3 30, j4 25, j5 33, j6 35, J2 35, J5 6, z2 33, z3 30, z4 33, z5 30, Z4 38, Z5 33, s4 38, s6 40, S2 35, S4 28, r3 28, width of ventrianal shield 105 at anterior corners, length of shaft of spermadactyl 13. Only measurements of length and width of the dorsal shield and length of shaft of spermadactyl of this species were given in the original description. These measurements are similar those given in this paper.
