Venezolanoconnus minor Franz, 1988: 83 View in CoL .

Material studied. Holotype: 3: three labels: "Rancho Grande / b. Maracay, Vene- / zuela, lg. Franz" with "SA256" on the reverse side [white, printed; reverse handwritten], " Venezolanoconnus / minor m. Ƥ / det. H. Franz" [white, handwritten and printed], " Holotypus " [red, handwritten] ( NHMW). Paratype: Ƥ, same data as for the holotype ( NHMW).

Remarks. Despite the female symbol on the label and the data given in the original description ( Franz 1988a), the holotype of Venezolanoconnus minor is a male. This small (BL of the holotype male 1.21 mm) species ( Fig. 75 View FIGURES 75 – 76 ) was originally included in Venezolanoconnus . However, despite a superficial similarity of the body shape, small head and antennae gradually thickening towards apices, V. m i n o r has the maxillary palpomere III of normal size (i.e., not enlarged); the pronotum with well-defined hind angles; two distinct pairs of pronotal lateral ante-basal foveae, of which the sublateral pair is connected by a transverse groove; the elytral base with indistinct, diffused elongate impression demarcating humeral callus; and the aedeagus ( Fig. 76 View FIGURES 75 – 76 ) with slender parameres. Within the current system of Cyrtoscydmini , these characters exclude V. minor from Venezolanoconnus and this species is tentatively assigned to Euconnus , until the taxonomy of the ' Euconnus complex' has been clarified.
