In NFIC one cotype is present designated by Pic and labeled as follows: Label 1: ( INDIA: Karnataka), ' Coorg , Fraserpet ; 03.vii. (19)30 ; FRI Sandal Insect Survey'. Label 2: Number '279'. Label 3: ' Spermophagus atroapicalis Pic , Cotype' hand written by Pic. Label 4: ' Cotype' printed on a yellow label.

Remarks: Cotype is in good shape. Holotype in NHM. Spermophagus atroapicalis Pic,1928 is currently a synonym of Spermophagus ligatus Chevrolat, 1877 .
