Malthacosoma halimocnemis var. impunctata Wagner, 1958 (the “synonymy”of M. halimocnemis sensu Wagner by Linnavuori 1993).

Distribution in Iran. Ardabil ( Linnavuori 2007), Bushehr (Linnavuori 2010), Fars (Linnavuori 2010), Golestan ( Khormali 2000 under the binomial Malthacosoma punctipennis ; Linnavuori 2007), Guilan ( Linnavuori 2007), Hormozgan ( Linnavuori 2004b), Kerman ( Wagner 1958, also as Malthacosoma halimocnemis var. impunctata ; Kerzhner & Josifov 1999), Khorasan ( Linnavuori & Modarres Awal 1999), Khuzestan (Linnavuori 2010), Markazi (Linnavuori 2010), Qazvin ( Linnavuori 2007), Semnan ( Konstantinov 2008c), Tehran ( Linnavuori 2007), West Azarbaijan (Linnavuori 2010).

General distribution and hosts. Azerbaijan, Armenia, China (Norwestern territories), Dagestan, Iran, Kazakhstan, Kirgizia, Tajikistan, Turkemistan and Uzbekistan. The mentions from North Africa, Israel and Iraq need verification ( Konstantinov, 2008c); observed in Iran on Artemisia sp. (Linnavuori 2010), Astragalus spp. ( Linnavuori & Modarres Awal 1999; Linnavuori 2004b, 2007, 2010) and different Asteraceae ( Linnavuori & Modarres Awal 1999) .
