Differing from M. atrata as follows: Shining black marking on fronto-orbital plate extending below upper 1/3 and inner 1/2 of parafacial; frons slightly wider on upper portion, about 2.5 times as wide as base of arista at the narrowest portion, in profile about 2.3 times as long as face; parafacial nearly as wide as (slightly narrower than in profile) 1st flagellomere at middle height; lower portion of face weakly warped forward; gena about 1/3 (about 2/ 9 in profile) as high as eye height; inner vertical seta fine and long, about 1/2 as long as eye height; postocular setae fine and short; antenna about 3/4 as long as face, pedicel with a long seta which is about 2/3 as long as whole antenna, 1st flagellomere only slightly longer than pedicel. Three presutural dorsocentral setae; 2 katepisternal setae; scutellum with long and rather strong erect hairs, discal setae indistinct among hairs, sometimes an additional strong seta present behind subapical scutellar seta. Wing hyaline, tinged with brown; lower calypter brownish, more darkened medially and basally; base of vein R4+5 with 1 fine setulae dorsally or without it; relative lengths of costal sectors 2nd, 3rd and 4th approximately as 2:6:2.5; last section of vein CuA1 about 4/7 as long as dm-cu crossvein. Mid tibia with 1 anterodorsal, 2 posterodorsal, 1 posteroventral and 1 ventral setae. Abdomen with thin grayish pruinosity on anterior 1/2–2/5 of 3rd and 4th tergites, still thinner pruinosity on anterior 1/2 of 5th, pruinosity very thin on mid dorsal portion of 3rd and 4th tergites.
Male terminalia: Epandrium with 2 pairs of strong setae; surstylus straight, nearly parallel-sided and rounded at apex, with fine short pile on inner basal 1/2; bacilliform sclerite very short and fused posteriorly with inner wall of surstylus; cerci in dorsal view in form of narrow “X”, close together on basal 1/2, in lateral view broad at base and narrowed to basal 2/5, apical portion weakly curved ventrally.
