Diagnosis. Male H. fairmairei can be separated from remaining species of Hermerius species in having the pronotum covered with long and fine hairs, the abdominal ventrites 1–4 with long and semi-erect sexual setae medially and the filiform antennae.

Type. Holotype male deposited in MNHN, with the following labels “MUSEUM PARIS Collection Léon Fairmaire, 1906 | 4067 | Cnemoplites fairmairei, A. Lameere vid. 1914 | Cnemoplites 9 | TYPE”.
