Diagnosis. Size. Length, female, 2.89mm. Width, female, 1.57mm. As for T. dansereaui but scales of elytra appressed. Known from females only.
Geographical distribution. México (Puebla).
Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at an elevation of 1525m.
Derivation of specific name. Named after Alfred F. Newton, Jr., of Chicago, Illinois.
Material examined. 2♀♀ ( CMNC, MCZC). Holotype ♀ ( MCZC): MÉXICO: Puebla. 5 mi. N. Teziutlán, 5000ft, cloud forest, VII.16–20.1973 / berlese leaf litter A. Newton / HOLOTYPE ♀, Theognete newtoni sp. nov., R.S. Anderson. Paratype: MÉXICO. Puebla. Teziutlán (5 mi. N.), 5000', 16–20.VII.1973, A. Newton, cloud forest berlese leaf litter (1♀ CMNC) .
Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. araneiformis and T. denticulata .
