Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 2.98mm; female, 3.20–3.26mm. Width, male, 1.69mm; female, 1.74–1.80mm. Antennal scrobes broadly visible in dorsal view. Procoxae widely separated, with deep pilose pit in front of intercoxal space. Pronotal punctures fine and shallow, vestiture short and sparse. Elytra with very sparse, scattered, short, erect, clavate scales; strial regions with very fine, appressed hairs; basal margin in humeral region with rounded tooth. Tergite VIII in female emarginate in middle. Aedeagus as in Fig. 256 View FIGURES 254–256 .
Geographical distribution. México (Oaxaca).
Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at elevations from 1125– 1325m.
Derivation of specific name. Through his support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian
Museum of Nature, this species is named after Pierre Dansereau of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as a gift from Mario Lalanne.

Baranowski / sifting litter in cloud forest / HOLO- TYPE ♂, Theognete dansereaui sp. nov., R.S. Anderson. Aedeagus extracted . Paratypes: MÉXICO. Oaxaca. Valle Nacional (23 km. S. W.) , 1300m, 26.VII.1992, R. Anderson, cloud forest leaf litter berlese (1♂ CMNC) . Valle Nacional (17 mi. S. W.) , 3700', 24.VI.1983, R. Anderson, cloud forest (1♀ CMNC) . Valle Nacional (24– 26 km. Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. desautelsi , T. peckorum , T. howdenorum , T. humilis and T. lutulenta .
