3. Theognete azteca Anderson , new species ( Figures 30 View FIGURES 29–34 , 36 View FIGURES 35–37 , 42 View FIGURES 41–46 )
Diagnosis. Size. Length, male, 3.26–3.71mm. Width, male, 2.14–2.30mm. As for T. araneiformis except eyes more closely spaced in dorsal view, funicle with more robust and shorter articles and pronotum more robust and elytra slightly more rounded. Aedeagus as in Fig. 36 View FIGURES 35–37 .
Geographical distribution. México (Veracruz).
Natural history. Collected from berlese extractions of cloud forest leaf litter at elevations of 1025– 1150m.
Derivation of specific name. Noun in apposition; named after the Aztec people of México.
Material examined. 2♂ ( CMNC). Holotype ♂ ( CMNC): MÉXICO: Veracruz. 3.1 mi. N.E. Coscomatepec, 3700', 21.vi.1983, R. Anderson, cloud forest / HOLOTYPE ♂ Theognete azteca sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Aedeagus extracted. Paratype: MÉXICO. Veracruz. Huatusco (4.3 mi. E.) 3400', 21. VI. 1983, R. Anderson, cloud forest (1♂ CMNC) .
Chorological relationships. Sympatric with T. lakarms , T. reprela and T. kaulbarsi .
