25. Theognete plumosa Anderson , new species ( Figures 97 View FIGURES 95–98 )
Diagnosis. Size. Length, female, 4.72mm. Width, female, 2.70mm. Head constricted behind eyes. Pronotum not carinate, midline flat and impunctate; anterodorsal tubercles with large tuft of very long, erect, plumose scales. Elytra with very low tubercles, each with tuft of very long, erect, plumose scales. Male unknown.
Geographical distribution. México (Oaxaca).
Natural history. Collected from berlese extraction of cloud forest leaf litter at an elevation of 2090m.
Derivation of specific name. Named from the Latin plumosus, meaning feathery, in reference to the tufts of long, feathery scales on the elytra.
Material examined. 1♀ ( CMNC). Holotype ♀ ( CMNC): MÉXICO: Oaxaca. 4.4 km S Totontopec , (2090m), cloud forest, 16 June 1979 / FMHD # 79 - 248 ex. litter along stream and in forest, J.S. Ashe / HOLOTYPE ♀, Theognete plumosa sp. nov. R.S. Anderson. Genitalia extracted.
Chorological relationships. Not sympatric with any other species of Theognete .
