48. Theognete lalondei Anderson , new species ( Figure 137 View FIGURES 133–143 )
Diagnosis. Size. Length, 3.74mm. Width, female, 2.14mm. As for T. confusa but elytra with scales suberect, linearly arranged on intervals, hair-like scales of strial regions distinct. Male unknown. No other Theognete species known from the Totonicapan area.
Geographical distribution. Guatemala (Totonicapan).
Natural history. Unknown.
Derivation of specific name. Through their support of the Nature Discovery Fund at the Canadian Museum of Nature, this species is named in memory of Denis Lalonde (1936–2007) of Montreal, Quebec, Canada, as a gift from Mario and Hortense Lalanne.
Material examined. 1♀ ( USNM). Holotype ♀ ( USNM): GUATEMALA: Totonicapan, 5/06 / HOLO- TYPE ♀, Theognete lalondei sp. nov., R.S. Anderson. Genitalia dissected.
Chorological relationships. Not known to be sympatric with any other species of Theognete .
