Diagnosis (instars II–III). Within Bidessini , larvae of Hemibidessus are characterized by the following combination of characters: A3 lacking a ventroapical spinula ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 10–16 ); legs elongate (ratio L3/HW> 3.20); femur and tibia with natatory setae ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4–9 ); secondary setae on dorsal margin of protarsus ( Fig. 7 View FIGURES 4–9 ); urogomphus elongate (ratio U/HW ˃ 2.70), with numerous secondary setae ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 4–9 ); primary seta UR8 inserted apically on urogomphomere 2 ( Fig. 9 View FIGURES 4–9 ).
