Type host: Panurus biarmicus (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Panuridae ). Type locality: Poland. NON-PHYSOGASTRIC FEMALE (holotype and 1 paratype). Total body length 450–465. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex flat. Infracapitulum apunctate. Peritremes V-shaped, each medial branch with 6–8 chambers, each lateral branch with 5–6 chambers. Movable cheliceral digit edentate in posterior part. Stylophore 160–165 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield divided longitudinally into 2 narrow lateral shields, punctate, bearing bases of setae ve, si and se. Unpaired median shield absent. Setae vi and ve situated at same transverse level. All propodonotal setae lightly beaded. Length ratio of setae vi: ve: si 1:1:1.2–1.3. Setae c1 located slightly anterior to level of setae se. Setae d1 situated equidistant to setae d2 and e2. Setae d2 twice as long as e2. Pygidial shield weakly developed, punctate. Setae f2 1.3 times longer than f1. Setae h1 twice as long as f1. Setae h2 3 times longer than h1. Alveoles of setae 3a–3a not coalesced. Genital plate present. Aggenital setae ag1 and ag2 situated at same transverse level. Length ratio of setae ag1: ag2: ag3 1:1:2.9. Setae ps1 and ps2 subequal in length. Setae g1 hair-like, situated on genital lobes. Coxal fields I–IV well developed, punctate. Setae 3c 2.7–3 times longer than 3b. Legs. Dorsal setae of legs I and II smooth. Antaxial and paraxial members of claws pair III and IV unequal in size. Setae tc”III–IV slightly (1.1–1.2 times) longer than tc’III–IV. Lengths of setae: vi 45–55, ve 45–50, si 60–65, se 155, c1 195–230, c2 105–125, d1 150, d2 170, e2 85, f1 45–55, f2 60, h1 100–110, h2 315–325, ps1 30, ps2 30, g1 40, 1a 40–50, 3a 25–35, ag1 45, ag2 45, ag3 130, l’RIII 30, l’RIV 30, tc’III–IV 50, tc”III–IV 55–65, 3b 25–30, 3c 75.

PHYSOGASTRIC FEMALE (1 paratype). Body worm-shaped outline, 905 long in 1 paratype. Morphology of body and legs as in non-physogastric form.

MALE (3 paratypes). Total body length 335–340. Gnathosoma . Hypostomal apex rounded. Infracapitulum apunctate. Peritremes M-shaped, each medial branch with 5–6 chambers, each lateral branch with 6–7 clearly visible chambers. Movable cheliceral digit edentate in posterior part. Stylophore 80 long. Idiosoma . Propodonotal shield divided longitudinally into 2 wide and punctate lateral shields, bearing bases of setae ve, si and se. Unpaired median shield absent but punctate area between propodonotal shields present. Setae vi and ve situated at same transverse level. Setae vi, ve and si lightly beaded. Length ratio of setae vi: ve: si 1:1:1.5. Setae c1 located anterior to level of setae se. Hysteronotal shield weakly sclerotized, divided longitudinally, punctate, not fused to pygidial shield, bearing bases of setae d1 and e2. Setae d2 3 times longer than d1 and e2. Setae d1 situated equidistant to setae d2 and e2. Pygidial shield well developed, punctate. Setae h2 10 times longer than f2. Alveoles of setae 3a–3a coalesced. Aggenital plate divided longitudinally, punctate, bearing bases of setae ag1. Length ratio of setae ag1: ag2 2:1. Coxal fields I–IV well developed and punctate. Setae 3c twice as long as 3b. Legs. Dorsal setae of legs I and II smooth. Antaxial and paraxial members of claws pairs III and IV unequal in size and shape. Lengths of setae: vi 35–40, ve 40–45, si 55–60, c1 140, c2 75–105, se 95–105, d1 30–40, d2 95, e2 30, f2 20–25, h2 200–210, 1a 30–40, 3a 20–30, ag1 55–60, ag2 30, l’RIII 20, l’RIV 15, 3b 25–30, 3c 45–55, tc’III–IV 45, tc”III–IV 50–55.

Type material examined. Panurus biarmicus (Linnaeus) ( Passeriformes : Panuridae ): female holotype (nonphysogastric form) and paratypes: 1 female (non-physogastric form), 1 female (physogastric forms), 3 males ( AMU –SYR.68) (bod.); POLAND, Zachodniopomorskie, Miedzyodrze , May 2000, coll. G. Kiljan.

Type deposition. All type material deposited in the AMU .

Host range and habitat. Monoxenous species inhabiting quills of body feathers of Panurus biarmicus .
