Material: New Caledonia: 1 male with eggs, 1 subadult male (MNHN­Py 1048), station 1418, Baie de Santal: east of Easo Point, sand and weed on a wharf, 20º46.9'S 167º07.9'E, 1­5 m, November 2000; Lifou workshop.

Remarks: A pantropical­temperate species easily recognized by its tapering proboscis. It is known from shallow depths, from the shore to 40 m, and has been recorded previously from New Caledonia and Tonga ( Bamber 2000; Child 1998).
