Material examined

1 colony, polyp, without gonophores; Caleritas Beach, La Paz Bay , Baja California Sur, 24.350°N, 110.290°W; depth 0–1 m, 30 April 2017; on rock; ECO-CH-Z 11775 View Materials GoogleMaps .

Identification (after Jarms and Morandini 2019)

Colonial polyps from a stolonal plate, individual polyps surrounded by an exoskeleton. Exoskeleton flexible, elongate, upright, and only slightly tapered proximally, with annulations and fine longitudinal striations. Exoskeleton without tooth or cusps. No polyps branching.

Distribution

New record for the MP.

Remarks

Life cycle studies of Linuche draco and Linuche unguiculata supported the existence of L. draco in the Western Pacific, and L. lunulata in the Indian Ocean ( Jarms and Morandini 2019). Life cycle and molecular studies are needed to reliably identify this scyphozoan in the Eastern Pacific.
