Liriomyza View in CoL sp. 1
( Fig. 158 View FIGURES 154–164 )
Material examined. MASSACHUSETTS: Hampshire Co., Pelham , Quarry St. , 5.vii.2013, em. 16.vii.2013, C.S. Eiseman, ex Maianthemum canadense , #CSE707, CNC392640 View Materials (1♀) .
Host. Asparagaceae : Maianthemum canadense Desf.
Leaf mine. ( Fig. 158 View FIGURES 154–164 ) Whitish, upper surface, entirely linear; frass in a nearly continuous black line.
Puparium. Orange-brown; formed outside the mine.
Comments. The mine is seemingly indistinguishable from that of L. smilacinae on the same host, but this female specimen likely belongs to a different species based on several minor inconsistencies in coloration on the head and thorax. Based on our limited data, the two species may differ in phenology, but more observations are needed to confirm this.
