TYPE LOCALITY: Uganda, Ruwenzori East, Mubuku Valley, 12,500 ft .
DISTRIBUTION: Known only from Ruwenzori Mtns, Uganda, at very high altitudes; a montane Western Rift endemic.
COMMENTS: Usually included in D. incomtus ( Delany, 1975) , but distinguished from that species by its altitudinal distribution, long and fine fur, very short tail, and diagnostic cranial traits ( Thomas, 1906a).
