TYPE LOCALITY: Kenya, Tana River, Meritano (32 km from mouth of Tana River) .

DISTRIBUTION: Savanna plains of Kenya and Somalia.

COMMENTS: The species has been recorded from Somalia as smithii (e.g., Heim de Balsac, 1966a); see Hutterer (1986a).
