Etymology. The species name refers to the locality of origin of the type specimens.
Holotype: male, Cuc Phuong NP, Nho Quan district, Ninh Binh province, v. 2006, 250m, 20°19'0"N, 105°36'30"E, coll. Pham Hong Thai.
- Paratypes: 2 males, same locality, 25.v. 2006, 250m, coll. Pham Hong Thai.
Description.
Head: including eyes as wide as mesonotum at base; vertex ochraceous, with large irregular marking at ocellar area and broad streak between eyes, black; supra-antennal plate fuscous; eyes pale brown; front ochraceous with two oblique oval black-brown lines longitudinal anterior arm of epicranial suture; gena with area between eye and antenna ochraceous; postclypeus pale yellow-brown with longitudinal streak and transverse grooves pale green; lorum ochraceous; anteclypeus ochraceous ( Figs 2 View FIGURE 2 A, B).
Thorax: pronotum dark brown, with a pair of central longitudinal stripes, broadened both anteriorly and posteriorly, markings along furrows of inner area, and two spots at each posterolateral part of outer dilatation, black; pronotal collar black-brown, lateral margin and lateral part of pronotal collar ochraceous, without dentate projection; mesonotum dark brown, with longitudinal small fuscous streak, lateral sigilla fuscous, scutal depression black, lateral margin of mesonotum with one greenish streak on each side; cruciform elevation dark brown ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A); lateral margin of posternum black-brown, anepisternum 2, anepimeron 2, and katepisternum 2, ochraceous ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B).
Wings: fore and hind wings hyaline, with veins brown or fuscous; fore wing with brownish black on basal subcostal vein, 2A+3A vein, and node, infuscate lightly on basal cell and apical cells 1-6, fore wing length 2.84-2.81 times as wide as fore wing; fore wing with eight apical cells, hind wing with six apical cells ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A).
Legs: all legs ochraceous with markings as follows: fore leg with primary spine of femur pale brownblack, secondary spine dark brown-black, pretarsus dark brown, apical pretarsal claw brown-black; mid leg with coxa and femur ochraceous, tibia pale brown, apex of femur pale brown, apex of tibia brown-black, pretarsal claw brown-black; hind leg, with femur ochraceous, tibia ochraceous, with tibial spur, tibial comb, and thumb of tibial comb dark brown-black ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B).
Abdomen: Abdomen 1.7-1.9 times (n=3) as long as head and thorax together, slender, widest across segment 4th, dark brown in dorsal view, with a dark brown-black spot on each side of tergite 2, tergites 3 - 7 with their lateral margins dark brown-black, tergite 8 brown-black, posterior margin of tergites black; projection on side of tergite 4 large, with black tip and distinct notch; timbal cover small, semicircular, and dark brown-black, with anterior margin black, timbal everted ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 A); abdomen ochraceous in ventral view, sternite IV with two large pale brown spots on centre, posterior margin of sternites VIII brown-black ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B).
Operculum: ochraceous with narrow black stripes on margin, small, short, transverse, scale-like, and not reaching beyond anterior margin of abdominal segment 2, opercula remote each other ( Fig. 2 View FIGURE 2 B).
Genitalia 3: pygofer oval in ventral view, a pair of basal lobes well developed and distinctly prominent, inner edge of basal lobe smooth with subapical oblique spine, upper lobes oblong with apex slightly rounded brown-black; aedeagus very slender and very much protruding out of apex of uncus lobe ( Figs 3 View FIGURE 3 D, H).
Measurements in mm (mean (min-max)): 3 males: body length: 30.0 (29.8-30.2); fore wing length: 27.3 (27.0-27.5); fore wing width: 9.7 (9.5-9.8); head width: 7.4 (7.3-7.5); pronotum width: 7.8 (7.6-7.9); mesonotum width: 6.7 (6.6-6.8).
Biology. This species was collected by sweeping during the daytime at virgin rainforest at an altitude between 250 meters.
