Nothybus kuznetsovorum Galinskaya & Shatalkin 2015: 585 View in CoL View Cited Treatment [photos, illustration of male abdomen].
Description. Head: As described for N. kempi . See above under “Definition of Nothybidae ” for discussion of mouthparts ( Figs 15, 16 View FIGURES 15 – 16 ).
Thorax: As described for N. kempi except as follows. Tubercle on notopleuron more widely light yellow, remainder of notopleuron more evenly brown and with yellowish anteromedial spot open anteriorly or enclosed by brown mottling; eight irregular rows of presutural acrostichal setulae in medial patch, and with lateral patch of 2–3 additional rows of setulae clearly delimited by gap; pleuron with brown stripe slightly faded on anepisternum and anterior half of katepisternum, only being prominent in posterodorsal region of katepisternum.
Wing: ( Fig. 71 View FIGURES 67 – 78 ) Wing length 5.5–7.2mm. As described for N. kempi except as follows. Brown transverse band expanding to a slightly greater width anteriorly, entirely filling apex of cell r1; clouded apical region sometimes darker (excluding clear spots); subapical cloud on CuA1 not extending into cell dm.
Legs: As described for N. kempi ; sometimes with dark basal band of white fore basotarsomere reduced and represented only by darker ventrobasal setae.
Abdomen: As described for N. kempi except as follows. Tergite 1 yellowish-orange with lateral and posterior margins narrowly or irregularly brown; tergites 2 and 3 laterally and dorsally with orange regions (note that this region is curled under abdomen in photos and not visible) sometimes relatively wide and with dorsum narrowly brown medially or irregularly light brown; tergite 4 narrowly brown laterally and posteriorly, sometimes brown to brownish anteromedially. Female tergite 6 with anterior margin and one pair of broad dorsolateral stripes brown.
Male terminalia: (Figs 86–89) As described for N. kempi except as follows. Surstylus shallowly convex on basal 4/5 of anterior margin, convex on basal 2/3 of posterior margin. Hypandrium narrower, more strongly arched anteriorly and medially, arm angled posteriorly, and lateral lobe more broadly rounded and laterally projecting, not hooked. Pregonite with apex larger, straighter, apically bulbous and ventrobasally produced. Distiphallus with apical tubules about twice as long.

Comments. Most records of Nothybus kuznetsovorum are from Vietnam, but single specimens have been collected in northern Thailand and in Laos. Other Vietnamese species include N. acrobates (Java, Nepal, Vietnam), which has two clear iridescent subapical wing spots (not three), and N. sumatranus (widespread in southeast Asia), which has the second of the clear subapical wing spots displaced distally. Features differentiating this species from others in the N. kempi group are subtle, but the orange sublateral spots on tergites 2 and 3, and the shape of the surstylus and pregonite are consistent.
