Cephalops straminipes ( Becker, 1897)

Pipunculus chlorionae Frey, 1945: 101 . Syn.: Kehlmaier & De Meyer (2005: 600). Pipunculus straminipes Becker, 1897: 225 .

Recently, Kehlmaier & De Meyer (2005) proposed the synonymy of Pipunculus straminipes Becker, 1897 and Pipunculus chlorionae Frey, 1945 . In their study, a lectotype for the latter species was not selected because the whole syntype series could not be studied (one male and four female specimens all deposited at MZH; only three females were studied then). One female is currently placed apart from the rest in an old reference collection (drawer 11). In order to fix the name involved and ensure a universal and consistent interpretation of the taxon in the future, the single male specimen of the syntype series is hereby designated as lectotype of Pipunculus chlorionae Frey, 1945 and was labelled accordingly.
