Type locality and habitat: Japan, Nagato Prefecture , Mt. Shiga, coniferous forest soil .
Type depository: MSJC .
Note: Petrova (1977) synonymised Hydrogamasus japonicus with Euparholaspulus primoris Petrova, 1967. We agree with the transfer of H. japonicus to Euparholaspulus, but these two species differ in the shape of the ventrianal shield and the length of the anal setae.
