Bousfield and Hendrycks (1995) provided a key to species of the genus Dactylopleustes . We here amend the key to include the new species.

Eye medium, ovate; coxa 1 slightly shorter than coxa 2; outer lobe of lower lip vertical; palp article 2 of mandible subequal to article 1, without setae ................................ ...................................................................................... D. obsolescens Hirayama, 1988 View in CoL
2 Medial notch of upper lip shallow; palp article 3 of mandible slender; palp article 4 of maxilliped slender; basis of gnathopods 1–2 setose ..................................................... 3
Medial notch of upper lip deep; palp article 3 of mandible stout; palp article 4 of maxilliped stout; basis of gnathopods 1–2 without setae ... D. echinoicus ( Tzvetkova, 1975) View in CoL
3 Posterodistal lobes of the basis of pereopods 5–7 angular; propodus of pereopods 5–7 slender, length greater than 3.5 times width, anterior margins with 15–21, 13–19, and 13–16 short spines respectively; uropods 1–3 long, slender; telson, 1.5 times width; outer plate of maxilla 1 with 17–18 spines; outer plate of maxilla 2 with 9–12 stout spinelike setae; accessory spine row of mandible with 13–14 slender blades............... ..................................................................................................... D. yoshimurai View in CoL sp. nov.
Posterodistal lobes of the basis of pereopods 5–7 rounded; propodus of pereopods 5–7 stout, length less than three times width, anterior margins with 11, 7, and 8 short spines respectively; uropods 1–3 short, stout; telson, 2 times width; outer plate of maxilla 1 with 15 spines; outer plate of maxilla 2 with six stout spinelike setae; accessory spine row of mandible with seven slender blades........................................................... ...............................................................
