Starry Rockfish. To 46 cm (18 in) TL ( Phillips 1957). Sea Lion Gulch State Marine Reserve, northern California ( Lauermann et al. 2017) to southern Baja California (Merit McCrea, pers. comm. to M.L.). Tentatively identified from photographs taken at Rocas Alijos (about 25°N, 115°45’W) (Robert Lea, pers. comm. to M.L.). Benthic; depth: 15–274 m (50–900 ft) (min.: Butler et al. 2012; max.: Miller and Lea 1972).
