Diagnosis. Pselaphomorphus breviantennae is characterized by the combination of a small body size (less than 2.0 mm) and antennomeres 4 to 10 being transverse, antennomer 11 as long as 8, 9, and 10 combined This species is similar in body size with P. chandleri , P. parki , P. macrommatus , P. motschulskyi and P. i nc o r u m, but can be differentiated from these by the shape of antennomeres, antennal length that is less than 1.0 mm, and subhumeral elytral fovea shallow.

Description. Male. Body length 1.7 mm. Body flattened dorsally, light brown with yellow pilosity. Head triangular (length 0.4 mm, wide 0.3 mm), base of antennal tubercle shorter than diameter of eye. Head longitudinal sulcus wider between eyes, spindle-shaped. Eyes kidney-shaped (diameter 0.1 mm). Antennal length 0.8 mm, Antennomere length as follows: 1 and 2 (0.06 mm), 3, 4 and 5 (0.04 mm), 6 (0.03 mm), 7 to 10 (0.06 mm) and 11 (0.18 mm), 7–11 forming clava. Maxillary palpi yellowish with short, even pilosity. Pronotum elongate (length 0.4 mm, width 0.35 mm). Lateral lobes trapezoidal, basally obtuse, apically staight. Antebasal lobe rectangular, at least three times wider than long. Pronotal disc oval, longitudinal and transverse sulci wider distally. Elytra length 0.5 mm, width 0.5 mm. Subhumeral fovea shallow, base of subhumeral stria rounded. Humeral teeth and elevation absent. Sutural fovea transverse and shallow, sutural stria thin. Basal discal foveae transverse, shallow, discal depression absent. Abdominal segments I–V dorsally with length as follows: 0.25, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1, 0.1 (mm), respectively; ventrally with segment V circular along distal margin, segment VI without depression, pygidial suture absent. Genitalia. Phallobase irregular, globose and asymmetrical. Median lobe divided into four arms. Longer arm extending upward and curved from left to middle in dorsal view. Type material. Holotype (male): “ Bolivia, Santa Cruz, 4–5 km SSE Buena Vista, Hotel Flora y Fauna. 440 m. 17°29.9’S 63°39.1’W. XII-14 to 24-2003. FIT. S. & J. Peck” ( FMNH).

Etymology. The name refers to the characteristic short antennae of this species.
