Remarks: This species was described by De Marmels (1989) from Cerro La Neblina, Rio Negro Department in Venezuela. De Marmels (2004) described the female and the larva. Pérez-Gutierrez & Palacino-Rodríguez (2011) reported H. breweri from Colombia, in Meta Department. We report this species for the first time from Guainía and Vaupés Departments.

Males of this species have a distinctive yellow coloration on the thorax, small size (abdomen <34mm) and robust cerci ( Figs. 8 View FIGURE 8 D–F), indeed the widest of the Colombian species in lateral view. Female is very similar to H. bariai, their differences are detailed above.
