Hennigophora Brown, 2007a: 8 . Type species Archiphora robusta (Meunier) (Baltic amber, fig. 19).
DIAGNOSIS: (From Brown, 2007a, with modifications in parentheses): Basal flagellomere of male relatively small (little differentiated from female); frons large, with frontal setae as in Archiphora patagonica (which has 1 pair interfrontal setae, 1 pair orbitals) (fig. 46B); scutum with large setae consisting of 1 median acrostichal row and 1 dorsocentral row on each side (fig. 19); stem of M 1 and M 2 well developed (tubular, but not sclerotized; fig. 46B); anal lobe small; empodium absent; (stridulatum present); male terminalia with separate surstylus on left side.
COMMENTS: Brown (2007a) placed Hennigophora robusta , Ulrichophora lobata , and “ Archiphora ” pria in a polytomy with Archiphora patagonica and Sciadocera rufomaculata . Based on the discovery of a new specimen of A. pria , which is better preserved than the original specimen/ holotype (AMNH NJ-773), I am transferring this species to Hennigophora , though this is essentially based on plesiomorphic resemblance.
