Dashymenia webbi Wolski & Gorczyca View in CoL sp. nov.

( Figures 12 View FIGURES 1 – 18 , 65 View FIGURE 65 , 83–86 View FIGURES 80 – 86 )

Diagnosis. Dashymenia webbi can be recognized by the following set of features: yellowish lateral stripe of pronotum narrow, not visible in dorsal view ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1 – 18 ); DSS broadened basally, nearly parallel-sided and curved at apical two thirds; AES with basal one fifths strongly twisted, embracing DSS, remainder of this sclerite weakly rounded laterally and curved, reaching DSS basally; MES and PES removed from DSS and apices directed in opposite direction; MES moderately sharply pointed basally and apically, with straight left margin, other margin somewhat rounded; PES weakly curved and broadened basally and medially ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 80 – 86 ).

Most similar to D. cognata , D. colubrina , and D. kotejai in sharing a yellowish head, an antennal segment II rather stout, a pronotum with the pale yellowish tinge laterally, and a scutellum with a yellowish tinge apically. D. webbi can, however, can be distinguished by the body coloration and the shape of the male genitalia.

Description. Male. COLORATION ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1 – 18 ). Dorsum dark brown. Head. Yellow; buccula, labrum, apical portion of clypeus and gula tinged with red; antenna dark red yellow with red areas; antennal segment I yellow, with red annulations: one situated beyond basis, other situated apically; segment II dark red; segments III and IV yellow; labial segment I yellow reddish; segment II yellow, tinged with red apically; segments III and IV dark brown. Thorax. Pronotum. Dark brown, paler, dull yellowish brown laterally and near anterior margin. Scutellum. Dark brown, yellowish apically. Thoracic pleura. Proepimeron yellowish brown; remaining pleura castaneous; evaporative areas fuscous; peritreme reddish. Hemelytron. Dark brown, with pale yellow patches on corium apically. Legs. Procoxa yellow with reddish tinge apically; remaining coxae red; remaining segments of all legs broken. STRUCTURE AND VESTITURE ( Fig. 12 View FIGURES 1 – 18 ). Elongate oval; dorsal surface mixed with dense, semirecumbent and erect setae. Head. Covered with long, dense, erect setae; vertex with two weakly raised tubercles, each contiguous with inner margin of eye and occipital carina and with obtuse longitudinal short rib between these tubercles; frons weakly rugose medially; antennal segment I covered with moderately dense, semirecumbent setae, weakly narrowed basally, remainder of segment I cylindrical; segment II somewhat flattened, weakly thickened towards apex, with a few long, bristlelike, protruding setae and with short, recumbent, dense scale-like setae; apex of labium reaching just beyond procoxae. Scutellum. Weakly convex. Thoracic pleura. Proepimeron covered with dense and deep punctation; remaining pleura heavily polished; peritreme rounded, smooth, and shining. Hemelytron. Membrane with minor cell weakly visible; major cell triangular.

Male genitalia. Endosoma ( Fig. 84 View FIGURES 80 – 86 ). DSS broadened basally, nearly parallel-sided and curved at apical two thirds; AES with basal one fifths strongly twisted, embracing DSS, remainder of the sclerite weakly rounded laterally and curved, reaching DSS basally; MES and PES removed from DSS and directed downward; MES moderately sharply pointed basally and apically, straight at the margin closer to DSS, other margin somewhat rounded; PES weakly curved and broadened basally and medially. Left paramere ( Fig. 85 View FIGURES 80 – 86 ). Apical process broadened subapically, extreme apex somewhat pointed, paramere body rather thin. Right paramere ( Fig. 86 View FIGURES 80 – 86 ). Rounded laterally.

Measurements. 3: body length 4.7, width 2.4. Head. Length 0.48, width 1.18, diameter of eye in dorsal view 0.3. Antenna. Length of segment I 0.48, II 1.3, III 0.36, IV 0.64. Labium. Length of segment I 0.46, II 0.48, III 0.26, IV 0.32. Pronotum. Length 1.33, width of anterior margin 0.95, length of lateral margin 1.1, width posterior margin 1.95.

Female. Unknown.

Etymology. The species is named for Dr. Mick D. Webb (BMNH), who kindly made the specimen available to us.
