Specimens examined. Salta: San Ramón de la Nueva Orán – Río Blanco, (22°58'10.9''S, 64°22'9.5''W), 10-V-2007, on Citrus reticulata (5Ψ, 2ɗ); San Ramón de la Nueva Orán – Río Blanco (22°57'53.7''S, 64°21'51.3'' W), 10-V-2007, on Nicotiana tabacum (1Ψ, 1 immature).

Previous records. Algeria, Bermuda, Brazil, Colombia, Cuba, Galapagos Islands, Guadeloupe, Guyana, Honduras, India, Jamaica, Martinique, Mexico, Peru (Guanilo et al. in press), USA and Venezuela.

Remarks. The description of this species is incomplete and redescriptions are not available, what makes the placement of this spccies uncertain ( Chant 1959; Moraes et al. 2004; Chant & McMurtry 2004a; 2007). No additional specimens resembling what is known about this species were found in this study.

Remarks. The description of this species is incomplete. Redescriptions given in the literature under this name have been confirmed to represent or could represent different species ( Chant & McMurtry 2004a; 2007). A redescription of the specimens of Berlese (1916b) has not been possible because of the conditions of the specimens on the slides ( Chant & McMurtry 2004a). No additional specimens resembling what is known about this species were found in this study.
