( Figs 10 View FIGURES 9 – 15. 9 , 16, 17 View FIGURES 16 – 17 )
Type material. Holotype female on slide [ UCRC]: MEXICO. Yucatán, Chichén Itzá, 27.vii.1984, G. Gordh [ UCRC ENT 311402]. Paratypes [on slides, CNC]: Guerrero, 2 mi. N of Cacahuamilpa, 19.vii.1984, J. B. Woolley [1♀]. Michoacán, 3 mi. N of Nueva Italia, 8.vii.1985, J. B. Woolley, G. Zolnerowich [1♀]. 28.5 mi of Nueva Italia, 9.vii.1985, J. B. Woolley, G. Zolnerowich [3♀]. Puebla, 15 km W of Izúcar de Matamoros, 27.vi.1981, J. LaSalle [1♀].
Description. FEMALE (holotype). Body mostly dark brown except base (about 2/5) of gaster yellow to light brown, hypopygium brown, posterior half of midlobe of mesoscutum, borders of axilla and scutellum, and dorsellum brown. Legs and antenna light brown to brown.
Antenna. Scape 6.6× as long as wide; pedicel much longer than F1; all funicular segments at least 2× as long as wide; F1 the shortest funicular segment, F2 slightly longer than F1 and a little shorter than F3, F3 as long as F4 and F5, F6 the longest funicular segment; F1–F5 without mps, F6 with 1 or 2 mps; clava 4× as long as wide, with 5 mps.
Wings. Fore wing 6.8× as long as wide; blade slightly infumate beyond venation but otherwise hyaline, with setae in the distal 3/5; longest marginal cilia 2× greatest width of wing. Hind wing about 18.5× as long as wide, a little shorter than fore wing; blade infumate apically; longest marginal cilia 2.5× greatest wing width.
Metasoma. Petiole wider than long. Gaster longer than mesosoma; ovipositor about 7/10 length of gaster, exserted beyond apical gastral tergum by about 1/5 of total ovipositor length, 1.7× length of metatibia.
Measurements of holotype (in Μm, as length or length:width). Body 553; mesosoma 172; gaster 258 ovipositor 265. Antenna:scape (including radicle) 485; pedicel 36; F1 12; F2 24; F3 24; F4 30; F5 25; F6 58; clava 111. Fore wing 443:71; longest marginal cilia 141. Hind wing 430:25; longest marginal cilia 74.
Variation (paratypes). Body length 554–694 Fore wing 6.0–6.8× as long as wide. Ovipositor 1.3–1.8× length of metatibia.
Diagnosis. In Triapitsyn et al. (2007), this new taxon keys to the same couplet as E. (Erythmelus) noeli (Dozier) . It is most similar to E. (Erythmelus) noeli (Dozier) and E. (Erythmelus) fidalgoi Triapitsyn , but differs from the female of E. noeli as indicated in the key and from E. fidalgoi because the fore wing has more setae.
MALE. Unknown.
Etymology. This species is a noun in apposition standing for the Maya people.
