Ceratocorema Hampson 1893 View in CoL

Ceratocorema Hampson 1893: 200 View in CoL . Type species: Ceratocorema postcristatum Hampson 1893 View in CoL , by monotypy. Neotinthia Hampson 1919: 115 View in CoL . Type species: Neotinthia semihyalina Hampson 1919 View in CoL , by monotypy.

Ceratocorema View in CoL was described by Hampson (1893) for a small Tinthiinae View in CoL species, C. postcristatum Hampson 1893 View in CoL , which possesses brownish semi-transparent forewings. Later he regarded this genus as a synonym of Tinthia Walker 1864 View in CoL (type species: T. varipes Walker 1865 View in CoL ) ( Hampson 1919), but established a new genus Neotinthia View in CoL for another similar species with well-developed transparent areas, namely N. semihyalina Hampson 1919 View in CoL . Kallies & Arita (2001) recognized Ceratocorema View in CoL as a valid genus, sinking Neotinthia View in CoL as a synonym of Ceratocorema View in CoL . Species of Ceratocorema View in CoL are characterized by the following characters: Male anal tuft extending laterally into long, fan-like tufts of scales on each side; presence of well-developed scale tufts on hind legs; phallus in with cornuti present as a patch of minute spines, ductus ejaculatorius enlarged, strongly down-curved, recurved proximally.
