Type species. Pseudopaguristes janetkae McLaughlin, 2002 (by original designation; gender masculine).
Diagnosis. Eight pairs of functional phyllobranchiate gills (bi- or quadriserial); pleurobranch absent on fifth and eighth thoracic somites; arthrobranchs of third maxillipeds and chelipeds markedly reduced or absent. Ocular scales well developed, widely separated.
