Diagnosis. Differs from congeners mainly by the posterior gonopod mesomeral processes with deep longitudinal, frontal excavation coupled with the long and slender solenomere.

Description. Male. Length 30–34 mm, midbody vertical diameter about 2.0 mm, with 49 (–1), 53 (–1), 54 (–2), 55 (–1), segments, excluding telson. Coloration from uniformly black-brown to black-brown with broad longitudinal dorsal strip formed by lighter dorso-anterior metazonital portions. Prozona, telson and axial suture black-brown, venter (including basal parts of legs) lighter. Legs and antennae dark brown. Occiput and forehead marbled brown, ventral parts of head light brown. Eyes black. Head smooth. 2 epicranial setae, 4 supralabral setae; numerous (at least 30) labral setae. A group of several setae on each lateral side (below antenna). Vertex with group of setae near each antenna or a head without setae near antennae. Eye patches almost oval, composed of about 70 ocelli (in one of the examined male paratypes). Antennae medium-sized, rather slender and clavate. Length ratios of antennomeres 2–7 as 7.0:5.8:5.3:5.7:3.3:1, width ratios as 1.9:1.9:1.9:2.2:1.9:1. Antennomeres 5 and 6 with incomplete distodorsal corolla of sensory bacilli. Mandibular stipites with triangle lobes. Gnathochilarium: not less than 20 nonapical stipital setae; lamellae linguales each with not less than 5 setae. Collum laterally with distinct lower striae of middle length at posterior margin not reaching to anterior margin, dorsally with distinct short striae at posterior margin only. A transverse row of setae at hind edge of collum. Body segments circular. Prozona smooth except for dorsum with transverse very indistinct striae. The metazonite gradually growing narrower toward the venter. Metazona with dense, regular, longitudinal striae reaching hind margin (18–19 striae in an approximate square with sides equal to metazonital length of a dorsal side of midbody ring). Limbus straight, smooth (of Type 1 in Enghoff 1987). A transverse row of thin setae at hind edge of metazonites, setae gradually growing denser and longer toward telson. Ozopores small, lying immediately behind suture dividing pro- and metazona. Caudal dorsal projection of telson straight and long, covered with setae and apically with a claw-shaped process curved dorsally. Preanal ring, anal valves, and subanal scale densely setose. Legs relatively short and slender. Very delicately serrate ventral pads present on postfemur and tibia, starting from legs 2 ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Claw of all legs at base with a long (longer than claw) setiform accessory claw ventrally but without accessory claw dorsally. Leg pair 1 forming hook, the distal segment not touching basal segments (“Open hook” type in Enghoff 1987); postfemur with inflated scaly-rugose ventral surface, tip indistinctly wrinkly; coxa with one seta, distal segment without seta, with very low tarsal remnant ( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Coxa 2 with one mesapical oral seta, a gland opening positioned in central and axial position according to Enghoff 1987 ( Fig. 27 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Penis subtrapezoidal, about 1.8 longer than wide, with apical excavation ( Fig. 28 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Ventral margin of body segment VII with lobes similar to figure 32 in Enghoff 1987. Gonopods slightly protruding. Anterior gonopod stout, flattened, with subparallel margins, apically broadly rounded. Anterior gonopod in posterior view subapically excavated for accommodation of mesomeral process, distal margins of the excavation papillate (especially strong mesally), subcentrally with knoblike flattened rudimentary telopodite ( Figs 30–31 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Flagellum slender, middle length, caudally covered with cuticular conical obtuse denticles in the basal part; distal part of the flagellum covered with cuticular spikes ( Figs 32–33 View FIGURES 27–33 ). Opisthomere hook-shaped mesomeral process in distal half with deep longitudinal frontal excavation; margins of the excavation serrate (number, size and position of the teeth varying) ( Figs 34–35 View FIGURES 34–36 ). Membranous velum with strongly sloped smooth margin, without a notch near the mesomeral process. Velum smooth. Margin of accessory membrane serrate. Long and slender solenomere spinose throughout (posteriorly with particularly long spines). Acicular process of a flagellum-quiding flap arising from posterior margin of solenomeral furrow long.

Female. Length 35–39 mm, midbody vertical diameter 3.5–3.9 mm, with 48 (–1), 51 (–1), 52 (–1), 55(–2) segments, excluding telson. Vulva with operculum higher than bursa, ( Fig. 36 View FIGURES 34–36 ). Apical hyaline lobes of bursa subtriangular, not long.

Etymology. The specific epithet refers to the gonopod opisthomere emargination.
