Description (from Platonova 1976). Body long, tapering little toward both ends. Some forms with well-developed labial cuticular outgrowths and long cephalic setae. Cervical setae numerous and situated in clusters or transverse rows. Amphids usually large and often sexually dimorphic: amphids significantly larger or more complex in males than in females. Renette cell not developed. Nerve ring situated at approximately mid-length of esophagus. Tail rather short and wide, often pointed at end. Spicules usually small or reduced; gubernaculum highly developed. Additional copulatory armature always present and represented by one to two papillate accessory organs. Postanal papillae with setae may also be present.
