Rhamphomyia sphenoptera Loew, 1873b: 40 . Type locality: (by lectotype designation): Herculesbad (= Băile Herculane), Romania.

References: Kowarz, 1873: 456; Barták, 1985: 39; 2007: 103; Pont, 2011: 73.

Distribution. Palaearctic: Europe: Albania,? Croatia,? Hungary,? Greece,? Italy, Romania, Serbia (after Barták 2007).

Remarks. Barták (2007) has noted this species from Serbia.
