Description

SHELL. Rather widely spaced riblets on last part of protoconch. Teleoconch with two lines of reddish spots on whorls. Ribs moderately strong, regularly spaced, not fading toward aperture. Rather weak lip with inwardly bent columellar lobe.

MEASUREMENTS. 1 ♀: whorls =7.8, H = 7.8 mm, H/W= 2.69, roundness= 0.17, ribs incl.= 66°, apert. incl.= 14°, ribs/mm 1 st wh.=11, ribs/mm 4 th wh.=7.

Remarks

Only empty shells were available. The assignation of this species to Turritus is based on the general morphology of the shell, which is similar to C. (T.) macei ( Bourguignat, 1870) and substantially differs from the other known African species ( Obscurella marocana (Pallary, 1928) ; ( C. (Auritus) perseianum (Kobelt, 1886) ; C. (Auritus) euconus (Ancey, 1888) ; C. (Auritus) letourneuxi (Bourguignat, 1866) ; C. (Apolloniana) susaense Brandt, 1958 and C. (Apolloniana) barcaense Brandt, 1958 ). The assignment could be supported by paleogeographical considerations, the Kabilye being a part of a European microplate which migrated south and crashed against the African plate (see Leprêtre et al. 2018).
