Diagnosis. Ariadna gaucha n. sp. is similar to A. boliviana , A. isthmica and A. ipojuca n. sp. due to the morphology of male palp ( Figs 37A‒B View FIGURE 37 , 44A‒B View FIGURE44 , 58G‒H View FIGURE 58 , 61A‒B View FIGURE 61 ) and metatarsi IV ( Figs 36F View FIGURE 36 , 43F View FIGURE 43 , 58F View FIGURE 58 , 60F View FIGURE 60 ), differing from them, except A. ipojuca n. sp., by the presence of a less marked transition between mid-portion and embolus; it differs from A. ipojuca n. sp. by the abruptly curved embolus ( Fig. 61A‒B View FIGURE 61 ); females differ from those by the presence of a strongly sinuous ventral lobe, with an expanded tip ( Fig. 61C‒D View FIGURE 61 ).

Etymology. The specific name is an adjective in apposition, referring to the “gaucho”, people that live in the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil.

Description. Male (Holotype). Carapace and chelicerae orange ( Fig. 60A View FIGURE 60 ). Endites orange, labium dark orange. Sternum orange, with darker margins ( Fig. 60B View FIGURE 60 ). Palps orange ( Fig. 61A‒B View FIGURE 61 ). Legs orange, with pairs I‒II darker and with dark pigment forming diffuse rings in the distal region of the patella, tibia, metatarsi and tarsi ( Fig. 60C‒F View FIGURE 60 ). Abdomen grey, lighter ventrally ( Fig. 60A‒B View FIGURE 60 ). Total length 5.76; carapace 2.6 long, 1.76 wide. Palps: tibia slightly incrassated, with the dorso-ventral diameter almost the same as the bulb; bulb rounded, mid-portion shorter than the embolus and abruptly curved forwards; embolus with a tubular and tapered tip, directed upward; ( Fig. 61A‒B View FIGURE 61 ). Legs: robust and coated with setae ( Fig. 60C‒F View FIGURE 60 ); metatarsi IV slightly sinuous, in lateral view ( Fig. 60F View FIGURE 60 ); tarsal brush of putative chemosensory setae present in tarsi II‒IV, extending to the median region of metatarsi IV ( Fig. 60F View FIGURE 60 ).
