Diagnosis. Forewing length is 9.5–10.5 mm in males (10 mm in the holotype) and 9.5–11 mm in females. Barsine syntypicoida sp. n. is a closest relative of B. syntypica . The ranges of these two species are overlapping in Sumatra. Externally, the new species differs from B. syntypica by its slightly narrower forewing with slightly more elongated apex. The male genitalia of B. syntypicoida sp. n. differ from those of B. syntypica by their distally narrower valva with longer distal membranous lobe, medial costal process being broader basally, and more robust cornuti in vesica. The female genitalia of B. syntypicoida sp. n. can be easily distinguished from those of B. syntypica by their much shorter antrum and smaller corpus bursae.
Distribution. Malaysia (Malay Peninsula and Borneo Isl.), Indonesia (N and W Sumatra Isl.). The records of B. syntypica for the Malay Peninsula and Borneo ( Holloway 2001; Černý & Pinratana 2009, Bucsek 2012) belong to B. syntypicoida sp. n.
Etymology. The specific epithet refers to its closest similarity to B. syntypica .
