Description. Length 11̄ 13 mm. Ground colour dull black, densely microsetulose.

Head with frons broad, faintly ridged longitudinally, uniformly microsetulose including ocellar triangle and most of epicephalon; frontal vitta broad but weakly differentiated anterior to ocelli, abruptly tapered to a thin groove posteriorly. Head chaetotaxy complete, with 2 frontal setae. Palpus broad, brown, ventral and distal margin golden microsetulose. Occipital suture shining black. Clypeus microsetulose, longer than face plus lunule. Length of first flagellomere 2.0X maximum width.

Thorax with scutellum silvery, scutum with faint pattern of alternating light and dark longitudinal lines and a transverse silver strip extending from lateral third of suture to a diagonal silver strip running from suture down across the posterior margin of the anepisternum and down the katepisternum just in front of the katepisternal seta row, pleuron otherwise subshining, uniformly but sparsely microsetulose. Proepisternum with ventral setae subequal in length to proepisternum. Legs black except as follows: Fore femur reddish at apex, fore tarsus entirely white except for darkened base of tarsomere one; mid femur with a broad apical yellow ring; hind femur with two broad yellow bands, one at apex and one just beyond middle, area between yellow bands brown; hind trochanter dark brown. Mid femur uniformly black except for white apex, hind femur with a broad yellow band near middle. Hind trochanter brown. Hind femur flattened.

Wing black except for base and clear basal and distal margins of discal band (ie, with broad basal and discal bands and an infuscated apex). Anal cell bare, CuA2 sinuate and in line with dm̄cu, distal angle 45 °.

Abdomen: Pleural membrane black with an almost vertical, almost parallel-sided white band on anterior margin of P3; genital fork (S5) with long, tapered, distally rounded, slightly incurved arms with inner margins densely packed with short, stout setae; base of fork with a shallow broad cleft. Basal distiphallus very broad, well sclerotized on ventral surface; phallic bulb large and dense, distal distiphallus elongate except for a long distal expanded area. Blade of ejaculatory apodeme much smaller than epandrium, about twice as large as the sperm pump, ejaculatory apodeme including sperm pump subequal in length to epandrium.

Type material. Holotype (♂, CAS, sequence MYCRO 214 ̄15) and paratype (♂, DEBU, sequence MYCRO 214 ): Madagascar, Moramanga district , Tamatave, Torotorofotsy, 22km N Andasibe. 18°46.25' S 48°25.93'E, 23̄25.2014, 960m, primary rainforest, S.A. Marshall. GoogleMaps
