Distribution. Western Atlantic—USA (South Carolina to Florida), Gulf of Mexico, Brazil (Pará, Maranhão, Ceará, Paraíba, Rio Grande do Norte, Pernambuco, Alagoas, Sergipe, São Paulo, Santa Catarina), and Uruguay ( Coelho & Ramos 1972; Abele & Kim 1986; Spivak 1997; Vieira et al. 1998; Coelho et al. 2008; Felder et al. 2009; Mendonça et al. 2019).

Remarks. Previous records in São Paulo include Ubatuba ( Fransozo et al. 1990; Mantelatto & Fransozo 2000; Bertini et al. 2004; Alves et al. 2012b; 2013b) and Ilha Vitória ( Alves et al. 2012a).
